Mechanical Engineer - Travel Required
Our electro mechanical device design build client is building a technology center in the Lowell, MA area that will employ a dynamic team of engineers. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible to develop mechanical designs for our clients aviation security products. In this role you will work as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop design concepts, perform mechanical analysis, document designs using 3D CAD, fabricate prototypes, and perform tests to demonstrate performance and margins that meets applicable requirements specifications and acceptance criteria. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible to incorporate DFM and servicing in all designs
Annual salary range 100,000-110,000
Mechanical Engineer Travel Requirements:
The role initially will be performed remotely from home half the week and on site in their upstate New York facility the other half of the week. Our client will cover all expenses for travelling and staying in New York until the Lowell area office is open.
Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities
Develop mechanical design concepts using 3D and 2D mechanical CAD tools
Analyze mechanical characteristics to ensure a robust product design
Generate production level mechanical drawings and electronic files for manufacture
Specify materials, surface finish and components
Provide technical support, troubleshooting and analysis to assist production level operations
Create procedures and various documents to support assembly, test, and analysis
Implement document and change control as it applies to mechanical design duties
Engineer will work with fabricated metal parts, machined metal parts, sheet metal assemblies and welded assemblies.
2D and 3D working expertise AutoCAD Inventor
Selection of system mechanical components and materials
Geometric Dimension and Tolerance per ANSI Y 14.5
Hands-on understanding of machining and model building which integrates various electromechanical devices
Attention to detail with the ability to prioritize activities with minimal direction
US citizen or permanent resident
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience in 3D mechanical design of complex systems for aerospace or medical system diagnostic imaging applications, esp. computed tomography
Experience applying Six-Sigma quality methodology
Experience in ergonomic and cost-effective design practices
Understanding of regulatory technical requirements for both non-product and product
Working knowledge of multiple technology disciplines such as electronics, computers, and electromechanical sensors
Education and Experience
Associates or bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
5 years of mechanical engineering experience on product development projects
